Tara Cottage, The Big Island, Hawaii

- "I want to go home to Tara!," Scarlett O'Hara pleads. And now in the same way I beg: "I also want to go home to Tara!"

Tara Cottage became our home for 9 nights in South Kona of the Big Island of Hawaii. And we want to go back there so badly!

It was the perfect romantic gateway for our 3rd anniversary. Taking into account we booked our vacation last minute, we were damn lucky to find this unique Hawaiian Eden with panoramic ocean views surrounded by Kona coffee fields and macadamia nut orchards. Set amidst lush tropical colors, the cottage is located on a most beautifully landscaped property. So inspiring!

Every morning we would wake up to this gorgeous garden, a little coffee plantation and an absolutely amazing Kealakekua Bay view. We even could see the Captain Cook monument from our cottage. Nothing and nobody is around, just soft breezes accompanied by sweet birds. We had such peace there. Every morning we started with a cup of fresh coffee from Tara plantation...

Every evening we would enjoy the most dramatic sunsets.

The cottage itself is a piece of art. I totally fell in love with the Polynesian decor and feel, the large windows, the beautiful high ceiling with an outstanding decorative chandelier, the great library and music collection, the little charming kitchen and our luscious outside private shower! It's such a perfect little place for two people in love.

My husband and I were impressed how well this little house has been equipped. Basically everything you could imagine you could find there. We really enjoyed the grill, beach chairs and umbrella, and picnic tools.

Internet is also available, so I could show my parents this paradise via iPhone and Skype.

We also appreciated the fact that the closest local beach is within minutes. Little local restaurants and cafes are 5 minutes drive away. Here is a little place for kayaking and snorkeling where you can take a kayak for $50 and go to Captain Cook monument beach for snorkeling which was a lot of fun. It what we did on our anniversary morning.

It's hard to write about this perfect vacation place. You need to experience it yourself. It's just so beautiful there, at Tara Cottage!
